Driving Through Chicago
Wednesday found us traveling down I-90 through Chicago. Although I wasn’t the one who was driving, it was stressful. Who knew that years of Portland driving still doesn’t prepare you for Chicago during rush hour?
What was stressful was that people just didn’t care that we were hauling a 37-foot trailer. We had to make a couple of last minute lane changes that were pretty C-R-A-Z-Y. I will say this much. Our GPS system is HORRIBLE. It’s supposed to give us a 2 mile notice when we need to change lanes. That works only HALF the time. Guess when it chose to quit working. Yep, right in the midst of Chicago traffic.
But they say you should always look on the brighter side. So here it is. Chicago’s skyline is pretty. And I was surprised we were *RIGHT* there. To see the buildings up-close and personal.
It was nice to see an iconic city. (We skipped New York City). And now the husband says if he can drive this beast through Chicago rush hour, Portland will be a breeze! (Remind me of that when we complain about Portland’s traffic!)
So, today we are heading home. 22 hours from now this adventure will be done. I’m INCREDIBLY grateful for this amazing place we call home. After traveling the majority of this country we all agree that Oregon is the place we love. (Although Montana is still calling my name).
But most of all, we miss our family and friends. See y’all soon!
