2014 A Beautiful Year. It began with a simple prayer that I would find beauty in my every day life. It was to be the year to proclaim the goodness of the Father. The Father. The one I called God. YWH. One day Jesus said to me, “Have you met my Father?” I began to learn, he was not only the Father, he was MY father. I now call him Abba. He calls me his daughter Redeemed. I saw a mess, he saw beauty. The following are my favorite memories from the year. What a year 2014 has been!
Gabby Turns 13
January 3rd, Gabby turned 13. We enjoyed a visit from friends before the party. The family arrived and we celerated. It was bittersweet. I enjoy seeing the amazing girl she has become but I missed the days when she was little.
Chicken Babies Arrive
The husband agreed to four adorable new additions to our home. Tessa, Rosabelle, Annabelle and Shadow snuggled into our hearts immediately. There is nothing like watching their little fluffy bottoms strutting across a desktop!
Let It Snow!
February brought us a surprise: snow! Bella enjoyed a taste of the fluffy white stuff falling from the sky. I loved watching her complete abandonment to the moment, fondly remembering days as a girl when I danced in the snow. The snow lasted two whole days and we were able to spend it with daddy. Some of my favorite pictures from this year are from these two days.
Bella has been working for one thing: gymnastics competition. Her gym offered an XCel team in October 2013 and she immediately begged to join. All the team’s hard work paid off in March & April. She made memories and earned medals. She’s still working hard to obtain a spot on the regular competition team.
Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone
I flew across the country to Chicago, Illinois to attend the 2:1 conference. Idared to dream big and Abba answered. I had arrived lost and broken-hearted. I left there confident, full of hope.
My Brother’s Dream Comes True
In May we took the family, the dog and the RV and headed south. My brother was graduating with a Geology Degree, a dream come true and the reward of years of hard work and sacrifice. I am very proud of him!
Time at the Beach
Summer means trips to the beach. This summer we went with my step-sister and her daughter. It was a wonderful day of reconnecting and letting Abba heal our wounds. I was happy that my girls agreed to taking pictures with me.
The 2014 Homeschool Conference
June brought the annual homeschool conference. This year I volunteered as a morning greeter and had the time of my life. I reconnected with Heidi St. John, a sister Abba brought into my life at the 2:1 conference. I left with mixed feelings, but still resolved to stay the course as a homeschool mother.
Facing My Fear
My life has been full of fear. Since this was the year to kick out fears I decided to tackle my fear of water. My friend Angie shared about her Stand Up Paddle adventures; I’ve been secretly jealous. This year, I decided to take a chance. You know what? I did it! And I like it. I can’t wait for summer to come back and go again!
Bella Turns 12
Bella turned 12. She had it planned down to the little toppings on the cupcake. We enjoyed an evening with friends and family. I am staying in denial that next year she will be a teenager!
Gabby Finds Her Passion
Gabby has been riding for a few years. This year we joined Pony Club and in August went to the annual camping trip. We borrowed this beautiful dapple for the weekend. Both Gabby and Momma were hooked. We came home with plans to start eventing and look for a horse of her own.
A Beautiful Love Affair
After an exhausting search we found the one. Mr. Splash and Gabby connected immediately. We brought him home in September. Gabby and Splash spent two amazing months together. November 9th, after a freak accident, he left. Our hearts were broken. Making the decision to end a life, knowing it will break your child’s heart, was excruciating. We still miss him.
September 25th. I turned 40. I decided it would be something to remember. I rented a house in Bend, invited some friends and had a blast! It was not just a celebration of turning 40 but a celebration of all the amazing things Abba had done in my life!
What Abba Has Done
The beginning of October we took a trip to Humbug in Southern Oregon. This is one of our favorite places to take the fifth wheel. It was a weekend of big waves, big trees and big memories. The husband and I enjoyed our time together. I spent the entire time thanking Abba for bringing so much love into my life. What a wonderful thing Abba has done!
Abba saved the best for last. This year he restored our relationship. We fell in love. I started the year married to someone I had chosen to marry. I am ending this year in love with the one my soul loves and who completes me.
I am grateful for all the beauty in my life. It would have been enough for him to bless me with just a beautiful life. This year, he redeemed me and gave me my soul’s desire. What a beautiful, beautiful year this has been!
