The last two months have been B-U-S-Y! We have enjoyed visits by cousins and friends. Days have been spent riding horses, jumping on the trampoline, going to the beach and just plain hanging out together. The girls now sport a streak of blue in their hair and can sign basic sentences to one another using American Sign Language. It’s been a summer of plans made and plans not kept, aka, school didn’t get done! To say this momma is tired is an understatement!
Last weekend we took the cousins home and decided on the way home to take a vacation. Just the husband and I. Oh sweet bliss of quiet and just doing nothing! Although plans were to stay in Klamath Falls we found ourselves in Bend … one of my favorite places.
Bend has some amazing attractions: breweries, parks and trails. We stopped by Bend Brewing Co. for dinner. Although we were not directly on the river, and overlooked an empty lot, it was an enjoyable time. I even found a beer I like: Outback X. After a simple meal of beer, vegies and hummus and turkey club lettuce wrap we decided to take a walk along the river. However, it was COLD and I was tired. Instead we drove around old Bend and enjoyed looking at the houses. (We’re kinda geeks that way!)
The next morning after a horrible breakfast at the hotel, we went for a walk. We started at Pioneer Park. Just as the paved path ended I spotted this little one across the way … it even has spots! I will spare you the dozen pictures I took.
The trail along the Deschutes River ended and we walked around past an electrical dam. For a modern day intervention on the river it was pretty mesmerizing.
The Canadian Geese didn’t seem to care that they were in a restricted area. Again, I’ll spare you the dozens of pictures of the birds.
Across the bridge we settled on walking around Brooks Park. What a fun place for me to play with my camera. Sorry, there were ducks too, so I have more bird pictures to share.
After shooting way too many pictures of birds, bees and trees, the husband decided it was time to hit the road. Our destination: The McKenzie Scenic area!
