Have you experienced that moment — the one where you feel the entire universe aligned to send you a message?
I am currently reviewing The One Year Devotions for Women: Becoming a Woman at Peace (The One Year Book) by Ann Spangler. Today’s entry is simply titled “Joy Ahead”. The words from today’s scripture…Wow!
I know how great this makes you feel, even though you have to put up with every kind of aggravation in the meantime. Pure gold put in the fire comes out of it proved pure; genuine faith put through this suffering comes out proved genuine. When Jesus wraps this all up, it’s your faith, not your gold, that God will have on display as evidence of his victory. You never saw him, yet you love him. You still don’t see him, yet you trust him—with laughter and singing. Because you kept on believing, you’ll get what you’re looking forward to: total salvation. I Peter 1:6-9 (The Message)
It’s true. This I know.
I faced fire. Consuming pain. Blinding smoke. Amber coals left deep scars in my soul. Ashes. Evidence of what once was. Life turned to dust.
Yet, there in the midst, HE was. Watching. Ever present. Staying. Because HE knew.
To appoint to mourners in Zion, To give to them beauty instead of ashes, The oil of joy instead of mourning, A covering of praise for a spirit of weakness, And He is calling to them, ‘Trees of righteousness, The planting of Jehovah — to be beautified.’ Isaiah 61:3 Young’s Literal Translation.
HE knew the path. Through the fire. Through the smoke. Through the pain, the tears. The anguish. HE knew it all. And HE knew I would be ok. That I would come through the fire,
David wrote in the Psalms, “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.” Purified. Clean. Beautiful. Beauty that rose from the ashes of pain.
As I spent nights crying I would quote Psalms 30:5, “weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”
And as I read the devotional my heart leapt for joy. I can see the dawn arise. Joy is coming.
My soul rejoice!
