“The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco” ― Mark Twain
I made a trip to California this week. It wasn’t a fun trip. After all, there is nothing fun about having a rabid attorney breathing down your neck. I have anxiety and spending time in a crowded city is a sure way to trigger my fight or flight response. However, I have a nice little pill that stops that response. With that coursing through my veins, I went walking the streets with camera in my hand. Enjoy!
We arrived the day that Apple was revealing the new iPad. I giggled because I found myself surrounded by computer geeks. (I being one of them!)
I love the lines in this shot. The streets were very narrow and the buildings tall. There was just something about this scene that “called” to me.
The icon of San Francisco. Trolley cars. Second time to San Francisco and I still haven’t rode the cars. I think I like to torture myself walking up the tall hill to Chinatown!
Chinatown. My sister wanted to visit. I decided it would be a fun trip. So, up the hill we trudged. I’m not sure what she expected it to be…but we just stood at the edge and I took a few pictures.
Walking back to our hotel down Stockton street we went through the Stockton tunnel. This is one of those unexplained weird phobias of mine. But I was fine. I walked through and the earth did not fall down around me.
I was fascinated by the sidewalks. (Don’t ask me why). These are two of my favorite shots.
This fountain was at the end of our hotel. It was so fascinating!
We stayed near Market street. Also known as the most nauseating area. The fact that this large swath of stores contained goods with obscene prices…If I’m going to spend $2000 on a bag, it’s going to be because someone in MY country spent enough hours and material to create that bag. And it’s TRULY worth $2000. Not just because it was by a designer.
I get it. The free market works. However, I know that these large designers have become rich by exploiting people in other countries. It’s angering.
What? You expected me to visit a city and NOT take a picture of a bird? I think I need help. LOL
