We made a few “mods” to make this place our own. Nothing major. More organization/decoration than anything.
Shoes drive me CRAZY! Between 5 of us, we have a ton of shoes. And since the kids are older, they are no longer the simple cute little shoes. I’m dealing with 4 adult sizes! When living in a small place, shoe storage is a must. My solution? I purchased these shoe bags and hung one on each bedroom door. The only thing that didn’t fit was our boots and they are in our closet.
First thing I did? I purchased a comforter for our bed. Although the design of the manufacturer was nice, the bedspread was scratchy and uncomfortable. I like this much better! And after all coupons, discount and clearance, I only spent $18! One of my favorite bargains this year!
We have a “dresser” in our room. It holds our phone charger station, key basket and printer. All of which are placed with velcro. The round-about holds our school supplies and stays there while we travel.
I’m a scrapbooker. Did you honestly think I’d leave without some pictures?
Yes. The logistics of homeschool with a Charlotte Mason approach on the road is a little mind-boggling. And this doesn’t include the 2 cupboards full of manipulatives, art supplies and books for our history curriculum.
There are always papers that I need and lose. So I put up a small cork board.
The best thing about this new set-up? A bigger bathroom!
5 people, 3 girls, lots of stuff. We solved this issue with a shoe organizer on the back.
Ikea to the rescue! Basket hangs on the wall and holds a bag. Underneath we store our shower bags. Each person has a bag that holds all their shower goods, towels and flip-flops. When it’s shower time, we grab the bag and go!
I purchased these cute tin cans from the fabric store for decoration. Right now they hold our make-up things. I need to get sturdier velcro in Reno.
This bathroom lacks the cupboards our trailer had. I found an over-the-door rack to hold our deodorants and extra teeth care supplies. The hooks holding the towels are part of a curtain system for the Boy’s bunk.
We LOVE our new kitchen space! We brought along our Keurig and our rice cooker (it’s also a slow cooker!) Underneath the sink is our new Ninja blender and our toaster!
I found this little board at the dollar store. I need to find a plain simple board for notes.
The side of the pantry holds my spices and my cooking utensils. I found the spice holders on Amazon. The tin can was in our other trailer.
To protect our nice new table, we have a cute vinyl tablecloth. We still need to find another chair.
The back room belongs to the kids and the cat. (Yes, we brought our cat along). They have 3 bunks.
The girls have curtains that Grandma made at the last minute. We are not happy with the rod system we are using, but it works for now.
The Boy’s domain is above the entertainment center in the room. There is no curtain up yet, but that should change in Reno.
The best thing we bought were these laundry baskets from IKEA. They collapse when not needed and they hold a weeks worth of laundry. We have one for us and one for the kids.
Well, that’s it for now. Hope you enjoyed a peek into how we are managing living in a small space!
