Welcome to Fitness & Health Friday! This was our first week of school. I actually went pretty well in the fitness area.
We started with Family Fit Fitness this week. Day 1, rocking horse warm-ups. In my front yard. Fabulous. I’m sure my neighbors must think we are a little bit odd.
But then the activity for the day arrived: jump roping. The girls were ecstatic!
Double Dutch…Hot Chili Peppers…Teddy Bear Chanting.
It was a flashback to childhood. Unfortunately my body didn’t flashback. Let’s just say at 38…my jump rope days are slowly dwindling…
Still, it felt good to have 4 girls all focusing on an activity to get their bodies moving. Next week we begin the health component…should be interesting.
Jump Rope Rhymes
Of course to jump rope you MUST have rhymes. The girls went to our handy-dandy computer and found a website:
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, turn around
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, touch the ground,
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, show your shoe,
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, please skiddooo!
The jumper actually does these moves while jumping: turning around, touching the ground, showing her shoe, and jumping out on the word “skidoo.” Here’s a second version: “please skidoo” is replaced by “that will do.” Then it continues:
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, climb the stairs,
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, say your prayers
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, turn out the light,
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, say good night!
Shark Girl and Mazy are slowly adjusting to the paparazzi. I chuckled when Bear looked at them and said, “It’s mom. She has a camera. It will go on Facebook. You get used to it.”
WHAT!? Do I really do that? Well, at least they are not accusing me of creating an activity just so it would go with my well-planned layout. LOL
