One of the best things you can use in homeschooling hands-on learners is Legos. We have over 40 pounds of Legos in our house. The favorite pieces are little people and animals…we cannot have too many of them. Unless they are under my feet at 2 AM!
Thursday our focus was on Biomes & Animal Habitats. The Boy is writing an essay on the Amur Tiger. We decided that this would be the perfect tie-in to his essay. He chose to create it in 3D, using Legos. It was amusing. When he was finished he not only had a Lego habitat, he had created a story about the tiger, his prey and his hunter. I love homeschooling this way!
The final project. He has a hunter & the horse is supposed to be a wild boar. He decided the habitat needs to be as real as possible. The blue represents a waterfall that drops off to the end. The chain is really a vine…and the block thing in the middle is a big tree structure for the tiger to climb.
